Vivian was born March 9, 1929, in Morris, IL, to James and Catherine (Anselmo) Phillips. She married Francis "Rudy" Maierhofer on January 16, 1954 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, IL.
She was extremely giving and would help anyone in need. For over 20 years, she gave of her talents to the Milton Pope Grade School as a substitute cook. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls, snicker doodle cookies, stuffing, dinner rolls, and cream puffs. She also worked for many years at the Morris paper mill and helping at the family farm. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, and refinishing antiques. Above all, her family was everything to her. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and attending their sporting events and school functions. Her face lit up every time she saw her great grandchildren. She had this quote hanging in her home "Family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger."
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church Altar and Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Francis "Rudy" Maierhofer; her children, Robert (Sally) Maierhofer, Pat (Don) Knapp, Rick (Julie) Maierhofer, and Paul (Cindy) Maierhofer; her grandchildren, Matt (Amberley) Maierhofer, Molly (Nick) Kaminski, Michael (Liz) Maierhofer, Jacob (Tammy) Knapp, Chad (Kirsten) Knapp, Mari (Brandon) Seggebruch, Jena (Michael) Sheedy, Jill (Chad) Caputo, Janelle (Andrew) Chamberlain, Megan Maierhofer, and Mackenzie Maierhofer; 21 great grandchildren, her sister in law, Betty Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
