Terry Wayne Buchanan, 60, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 pm, Wednesday, March 24 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Friends and family attending will kindly be asked to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing.
Terry was born January 17, 1961 and raised in Roodhouse by Dean and Barbara (Freeman) Buchanan. He married Jodie Pazelli on January 17, 2001 in Jacksonville, IL.
Terry owned and operated T&J Auto and was an extremely hardworking "mechanic to many". Terry's larger-than-life personality meant his presence was always known. He was a creative singer and song-writer and he loved working on cars and watching Westerns. Although he was stubborn with a wicked sense of humor, he could never deny his true love for his family. His real joy in life was spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved playing Nerf gun wars with his grandson, Michael.
He is survived by nine children, Mandy (Denny) Moore of Pittsfield IL, Tiffany Adams of Jerseyville IL, Jeffrey Buchanan of Lincoln IL, Justin Buchanan of Sycamore IL, Crystal (Kevin) Jernigan of Big Rock IL, Danielle (Tyler) Packard of Sugar Grove IL, Anthony Buchanan of Plano IL, Ryan Waters of Ottawa IL, and Haley (Christian Crouse) Buchanan of Marseilles IL; 18 grandchildren, Skylar and Katilyn Moore, Aubrey and Ashlynn Zumwalt, Paige, Bubba, and Haevynn Adams, Brock Buchanan, Chloe Buchanan, Noa, Nevaeh, Nolan, and Nixon Jernigan, Owen James and Autumn Marie Packard, Jewell and Hunter Buchanan, and Michael Waters; five great-grandchildren, Paxton, Paisley, Krew, Greyson, and Ryver; five siblings, Rita (Dan) Davies of Clarksville TN, Tilman (Brenda) Ritter of Divernon IL, Rhonda (Terry) Piper of Greenfield IL, Kevin (Sherry) Kemper of Sacramento KY, and Crystal Newman of Rockport IN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Barb Buchanan; and his aunt, Sharon June.
Memorials may be directed to his family.
