Steven George Farlee, 68, of Ottawa, IL, went to be with the Lord on February 7th, 2024 while surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday February, the 17th at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 114 East Jefferson Street, Ottawa with Pastor Timothy Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 9am at the church. Lunch will be served after the service. Burial will be in Steve's hometown of Scottsbluff, Nebraska at a later date.
Steve was born May 9, 1955, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Virgil and Dorothy Farlee. He married Gail (Andersen) Farlee on December 29th,1979 in Scottsbluff, NE at the Calvary Lutheran Church in the middle of a snowstorm. They were married for 44 wonderful years. Steve always put his family first and was devoted to their health and happiness.
He worked at Cardinal Trucking as a truck driver for a decade and prior to that at Schnieder for a decade as well. He was a member of La Salle County Cruisers and the proud owner of 1966 red Oldsmobile Toronado, he named Ruby. He got his love for Oldsmobiles from his dad, and Ruby was a longtime dream who gave him significant joy in the last year of his life. He rarely appeared anywhere without wearing a pair of his favorite size 11 Converse high-tops. In honor of that, the family will be wearing theirs at the service, and anyone should feel free to do the same.
He is survived by his loving wife Gail; his son Sean (wife Jessie & their children Audree, Connor, Lincoln, Benny, Ember); his daughter Sarah (husband Paul & their children Adelynn & Justice-Paul); special granddaughter Fio Bonvillain, close niece Bonnie Vavala (Paul), great niece Alexandrea “Lexie” Bryant and one great-great niece Aurora Jo Bryant.
Steve was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister Maryann Bye.
