Scott E. Schillings, Sr., 64, of Ottawa passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 15, 2021 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 6 pm, Friday, November 19 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Satya Sudhakar officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm, prior to services, at the funeral home.
Scott was born March 22, 1957 in Mendota to Edward and Geraldine (Jerome) Schillings. He married Jean Grieves on March 8, 1975 in Ottawa, and together they have spent 46 wonderful years of marriage.
Scott worked for Ag Trucking for over 30 years. He was all around a quiet guy with a great sense of humor. Scott loved spending his summers swimming in the pool and having cookouts with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; three children, Bridget Wheeler of Marseilles, Scott (Katie Wilhelm) Schillings, Jr., and Jeremy (Nicole) Schillings, both of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Tashina (Mike) McEmery, Keith and Zach Schillings, Emma Cheli, Madison and Kylee Rose Schillings; great-grandchildren, Bryer, Remington, and baby Penelope due soon; his sister-in-law, Betty Schillings of Tonica; and two brothers-in-law, John Grieves and Bob Brandow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Steve Schillings; his sisters-in-law, Sue Grieves and Judy Brandow; and his parents-in-law, Rosemary and Lester Grieves.
