Ronald Hill Obituary

Ronald "Chaser" Hill, 79, of Grand Ridge, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022  at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Streator.

Memorial Mass will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Field Church in Grand Ridge, with Rev. Henry Sixmund officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00am until 11:00 am, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.  Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. 

Ronald was born September 19, 1942, in Ottawa, IL, to Archie and Christina (Besse) Hill. He married Veronica "Bonnie" Kuhn on January 19, 1963 in Grand Ridge. She passed away March 31, 2016.

Chaser worked at Glenwood Farms and Farm and Fleet. He farmed with his brother Buck for many years and was a Pioneer Seed Corn dealer. He worked as an over the road truck driver for A&R Transport, Lotz Trucking, and Consolidated Freight. He later worked for the Pioneer Seed Plant and then retired from the LaSalle County Highway Department. 

He was a member of LaSalle County 35ers softball team, Grand Ridge Ride and Show Tractor Club, and St. Mary's of the Fields Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing Euchre and going to tractor shows. He loved attending all his kids and grandkids sporting events.

He is survived by his three children, Rhonda (James) McCormick, Randy (Lisa) Hill, and Ryan (Brittany) Hill; his six grandchildren, Stephanie (Nick) Streicher, Chelsie (Brian) Bergeson, Ross McCormick, Chase (Kelly) Hill, Wyatt Hill, and Max Hill; and his two great grandchildren, Benson Bergeson and Margot Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his four sisters, Rita Hill (Twin), Darlene "Dot" Hintze, Kay Heath, and Sandra Kern; his brother, Archie "Buck" Hill Jr. and a great granddaughter, Mia Streicher.

Memorials may be directed to the Grand Ridge Fire Department.
