Robert "Coach" Timm, 75, of Ottawa passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, January 5 at the funeral home, with Rev. Gary Caster officiating. He will be laid to rest in St. Columba Cemetery.
Bob was born on July 3, 1946 in Ottawa to Ed and Marian (Marek) Timm. He attended Ottawa Township High School and went on to attend Taft Jr. College in California to play football. He continued his football career at Illinois State University while earning his degree in teaching. On June 8, 1974, he married the love of his life Jackie Elias. Together they raised two sons, Jeff and Jay, and one daughter, Katie.
Bob was an avid sports fan. Whether it was the Fighting Illini, the Chicago Cubs, or the Chicago Bears he would always take his radio with him so he would never miss a game. After retiring from teaching, in 2002 he went on to work for 18 years at Papa John's in Ottawa, earning the title of "slowest Pizza Delivery Driver in Ottawa".
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Jeff and Jay (Megan) of Ottawa; daughter, Katie Timm of Indianapolis, IN: brothers, Henry (Linda) Timm and Kenneth (Nancy) Timm; grandsons, Tristan, Crosby, Bodhi, and Gentry Timm; sister-in-law, Sherry (Paul) Maurice of Oglesby; brothers-in-law, Tommy Elias (Anna Gaydos) of Cathedral City, CA and David (Paula) Elias of Annawan, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marian and his parents-in-law, Jack and Bev (Katrein) Elias.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Elias, Doug Guerrero, Beau Hellman, B.J. Parrott, David Rodriguez, Kevin Marshall, Grady Alderman, Jared Ellison, and Brian Vetter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Kennedy, Bob Cokley, and Derek Guerrero.
