Richard Charles Anderson, 89, of Seneca passed away Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Providence Health Care and Rehabilitation Center of Downers Grove.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca has been entrusted with arrangements.
Richard was born July 17, 1931 in Toluca, IL to James and Anna (Jurkanin) Anderson, Sr. He served his country in the US Navy. He was employed by Libby Owens Ford in Naplate, IL and also in California, and then the BP Refinery in Joliet, IL. He enjoyed the outdoors and kept the North Hill of Seneca beautifully maintained.
Richard and his brother, Bill were avid bowlers, traveling by car to many places around the US to bowl in tournaments. Richard, Bill, and a few other older gentlemen in the area had a sort of club they called ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
He is survived by his brother, William Anderson of Seneca; brother-in-law, Robert Bishop of Yorktown, VA; eleven nieces and nephews, twelve great-nieces and nephews, and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Anderson, Jr.; his sisters, Mary Ann Bishop, Marguerite Jordan, and Lucille Schaefer; sister-in-law, JoAnne Anderson; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Jordan and Joseph Schaefer; and a nephew, Joseph Anderson.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
