Paul Byron Veasy, age 91, passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 pm, Friday, May 14 at CrossBridge Community Church of the Nazarene, with a funeral service to follow. Military honors will be held prior to the visitation at 4:30 pm, also at the church. He will be buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
Paul was born March 13, 1930 in Argo, IL to Lawrence and Grace (Houzz) Veasy. He graduated in 1948 from OHS, where he excelled in track & field. He was a proud member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Paul worked for Carey Transportation Bus Co. in NYC before moving to Ottawa and retiring from Peoria Rockford Bus Co. Paul then went on to work part-time for Bill Walsh dealerships and was a member of the UAW Union.
After retirement, Paul enjoyed maintaining his home. Paul was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Rockville Center, NY. He was always active in the church and served as treasurer of the Old Baptist Church on 4th Ave. Paul loved his granddaughters and enjoyed board games with them. He will truly be missed by those who loved him.
Paul is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florence (Grant) Veasy; two daughters, Linda (Greg) Pontnack of Rockford and Lori (Ebun) Jaiysimi of New Jersey; two sons, Jeffery Aldean Veasy of New York and Gregory Lynn Veasy of Sterling, Virginia; three granddaughters, Cristal Kayel Perry, Leslie Jaiyesimi, and Lindsay Jaiyesimi all of New Jersey; two nieces, Theresa and Janice; and nephews, Timothy, John, Gaylord, Kevin, David and Steven.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Douglas, Aldean, and Burl.
