Nolan Eric Thurman Ruger, 15 years, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, July 19th, 2020, as
the result of a motor vehicle accident.
A celebration of Nolan's life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Ottawa Funeral home; they believe he was a free spirit and has entrusted Ottawa Funeral home & Crematory with cremation rites.
Nolan, nicknamed “Noni” by his family, was born November 22, 2004 in Ottawa, to Eric Ruger
and Brandi (Matson) Ruger. His birthday commonly fell on thanksgiving, which was perfect
because he loved to eat. He was awaiting his sophomore year at Ottawa township high school,
where he played football and enjoyed studying the sciences. He wanted to follow in his sisters
footsteps and attend college majoring in biology. Nolan spent his time cycling with his dad,
playing his xbox 24/7, listening to his favorite songs, and keeping his friends company. He
was also very good at annoying his siblings for fun, hogging the television with his games,
and cleaning out the refrigerator. Nolan was an old soul and took pride in his record player
and collection of old records, if you were to touch one you had better watch out. He was very
kind and gentle and often found joy playing with his infant brother Jeffery, who becomes more
like him every day. His family and friends are forever grateful for the time they had with him-
his warmth, legendary humor, and his magical ability to make every day into something worth
talking about. In the end it isn’t the years of your life that count, but the life in your years.
Although Nolan only had 15 years he spent that time living fearlessly, loving unconditionally,
and forming unbreakable bonds.
He is survived by his parents Eric Ruger and Brandi (Matson) Ruger, his siblings Sophie, Max,
and Jeffery Jr; his grandparents Layne Matson, Debbie Schunke, and Ron Schunke; and many
loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his two best friends Owen Holliday, and Roland
Camp.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Terrie and his grandfather Lorran Ruger.
Memorials May be directed to his family. In lieu of flowers and donations, we ask that you take a
Moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend, or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour or
a day, time waits for no one and life is too short.
