Michael Gregory Marek, 68, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Private family services will be held. He will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Mike was born August 2, 1952 in Ottawa to Gaylon and Lucille (Midnight) Marek. He worked many jobs, including Pachottoes, Ottawa Daily Times, and Caterpillar in Aurora where he worked for more than 40 years before his retirement.
Mike spent his entire life in Ottawa and always appreciated the simple things in life. He was happiest sitting outside on his swing, smoking a cigar, while drinking a Dr. Pepper and playing with his dog. Mike was an excellent woodworker who made beautiful furniture for all the people he cared about. He also loved attending auctions, flea markets, and car shows throughout his life.
In previous years, some of his favorite things to do were riding his Harley, taking his dog fishing, and going to concerts with his daughter. He was extremely personable and loved to tell stories and joke around. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Scott) Koca; sister, Gay Ann (Harvey) Norwick; brother, Keith Marek; sister-in-law, Linda Marek; nephew, Brad (Amy) Marek; niece, Becky (Jimmy) Glade; great-nephew, Caleb Marek; great-nieces, Nora Marek, Maddie and Brynley Glade; and his favorite pup, Isaac.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kevin Marek.
