Linda “Tweeter” Bowers, 61, of Seneca passed away peacefully at home, on March 8, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation rites. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
Linda was born in Ottawa, Illinois, on August 14, 1959, to Orville and Mildred (Wise) Walker. She grew up in Seneca and graduated from Seneca High School in 1977. Her father nicknamed her Tweeter when she was just a little girl, and some people still only knew her as Tweeter to this day.
Linda married Charles Bowers in Morris, Illinois, on July 6, 1979. They were happily married for over forty years and raised four children together. Linda is best known for her love of Dr. Pepper and the Chicago Cubs. She was a loyal Cubs fan and couldn’t have been happier to witness their World Series win in 2016. She loved collecting Cubs memorabilia for her shrine. In the most recent years, she preferred spending time with her grandkids and going out for lunch.
Linda was a simple soul. No one worried about having to impress her. She saw people for their true character. Linda was a great listener who offered advice while reserving judgment.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie, and her four children: Angela Bowers of Seneca; Brian (Liz) Bowers of Marseilles; Rachael (Wayne) Greenaway of Baytown, Texas; and Amanda (Brian) Lamps of Peru. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Chase Bowers, Emmy and Avery Greenaway, Millie Bowers, Lauren and Ellie Lamps, and CJ Glabe. Additionally, Linda is survived by six siblings: Patsy (Gary) Mayfield, Charlie (Judy) Walker, Jim (Karen) Walker, Jane (Dick) Castner, Jean Walker, and Dale Walker. She’s also survived by her sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Peggy Walker, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, for whom she cared deeply.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Harold Walker.
