Kay Milus Obituary

Kay M. Milus, 90, of Ottawa died on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

A memorial mass is scheduled for 10 am on Friday, October 29, at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. She will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery with her husband. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Kay was born on June 14, 1931 (Flag Day!) to John and Dorothy Kelly. She attended Marquette High School, graduating as a member of the last all-girl class in 1949. On February 3, 1951, Kay married Kenneth “Knute” Milus from Seneca. They eventually settled in Marseilles where they raised their four daughters.

After receiving her training from the LaSalle School of Cosmetology, Kay owned and operated The Silhouette Beauty Salon for years until quilting took over her life. She was very talented at many things. In addition to her beautiful quilts, she did cross-stitch, tole painting, and needlepoint.

She was preceded in death by too many people. Her husband, Knute; her daughters, Krista Sharp and Kara Bault; her grandchildren, baby Charlie Alderman, Stephen Kelly McDermott, Mary McDermott Goble; and son-in-law, Stephen McDermott.

She is survived by two daughters, Kayla Alderman of Ottawa and Kelly McDermott of Mahomet; son-in-law, Tim Bault; grandchildren, Kelly (Beth), Dan and Brett (Kara) Bault of Ottawa, grandson Lee (Jennifer) Sharp; great-grandsons, Brett and Brian Sharp of Decatur, and great-grandsons Dylan and Dakota Goble of Mahomet.
