John R. “Jack” Wisniewski, 94, of Ottawa, died Thursday evening, November 17, 2022 at LaSalle County Nursing Home with his children by his side.
Family services were held Monday, November 21 with burial in St. Columba Cemetery, Ottawa. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Jack was born September 9, 1928, in Ottawa to Stanley and Severina (Sefcikowski). He married Loretta Mucci on February 10, 1948, and they were married 61 years before her death on April 15, 2009.
Jack loved his family deeply. He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Michael) Meenan of Henderson, NV; three sons, John (Deb Rosencrans) of Ottawa, Jerry (Jo Anna) of Gifford, IL, and Joseph (Dina) of Plano, IL; 8 grandchildren, Jamie Ranallo, Julie Roach, Jenny Barrie, Jeff Wisniewski, Tricia Strupp, Brian Meenan, Jace and Zoie Wisniewski; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister, Florence (Keith) Bretag and brother, Donald (Marcia), and sister-in-law’s, Jane Mucci and Sandy Wisniewski, all of Ottawa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loretta; daughter-in-law, Joanne (Hinkey) Wisniewski; brothers, Edmund, James, Stanley, and Theodore; and sisters, Barbara Busch, Helen Carroll Jenkins, Henrietta Rauh, Irene Wasilewski, and Martha Cherry.
Jack was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and retired from Libbey-Owens-Ford in Naplate. He was a great storyteller never missing an important detail. During his lifetime, he was a passionate Bears, Cubs, and Notre Dame fan.
