John Marshall Obituary

John Richard "Dick" Marshall, 91, of Ottawa, passed away on January 16, 2023 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 20, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Church, with Fr. Jeff Windy officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00am until 10:00am, Friday, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Somonauk. 

John  was born June 6, 1931, in Serena, IL to Lowell and Lorene (Klare) Marshall. He married Corona Connors on September 1, 1956 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. She passed away October 3, 2000. 

He attended Serena High School and the University of Illinois where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in agriculture. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He was a charter member of the Serena Lions Club, the president of the LaSalle County Farm Supply, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. 

He survived by his children, Dr. John Stephen (Michele) Marshall, Dr. Teresa Ann Marshall, Gregory Charles Marshall, Henry Thomas (Steve Schultz) Marshall, Etta Sue (David) Head, and James Richard (Kim) Marshall; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one on the way; and his sister, Mary K. Ugianskis.

John  was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son in law, Eugene Kasper; and his siblings, James K., William H., Helen J., and Thomas V. Marshall.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donors choosing.
