John Bohler Obituary

John M. Bohler, 60, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Saturday, September 25 at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, September 24 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. 

John was born February 1, 1961, in Ottawa to Joseph A. and Theresa F. (Bayuk) Bohler, Sr. John worked as a laborer for Local 393, retiring in 2019. He was a big union man and was always there to help with union events. He would also donate his time for different benefits and fundraisers. John enjoyed fishing with friends and traveling. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially the Cubs and Bears. He was a member of Local 393 and the Sons of the American Legion. His true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. 

John was someone you could always count on. His unforgettable smile always lit up a room, and his personality was big enough to fill it. 

He is survived by four daughters, Lindsey (late Dan) Biba, Ashley Steele, Alexandra Galeucia-Bohler, and Beranna Bohler; seven grandchildren, Noah, Kendall, Kash, Kensi, Emmy, Gunnar, and Paxon; his brother, Joseph A. (Barbara) Bohler, Jr.; and three sisters, Peggy (late Jerry) Pool, Katherine Smith, and Mary Ann (late Steve) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Peter Bohler, Ryan Bohler, Craig Pool, Eric Pool, Scott Burgwald, Steven Johnson, Jr., and his great-nephew, Dustin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Lockridge, Donald Wolfe, Victor Bute, George Katz, and Paul Eisert. 

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
