Joan Jacobs Obituary

Joan M. Jacobs, 90, of Aurora, formerly of Seneca, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at The Grove Fox Valley in Aurora.

Private family services will be held. She will be buried at Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca has been entrusted with arrangements.

Joan was born February 13, 1930 in Chicago to Harry D. and Ruth N. (Cook) Skeggs. She married Gerard Jacobs on August 22, 1953; he passed away May 27, 2015. When Joan was younger, she enjoyed cooking and caring for her large family of six children. As her children grew, she found a new joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joan loved reading and watching game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed watching old movies and listening to Frank Sinatra.

She is survived by her six children, Bob (Pat) Jacobs of CA, Tim Jacobs of Elgin, Jim (Patty) Jacobs of Oswego, Diane (Mark) Coconate of Oswego, JoAnne (Uwe) Schulze of Mt. Prospect, and Holly (Brian) Lutzow of Chicago; her grandchildren, Cyndi (Brian) Connelly, Sandra (Matt) Little, and Steven Jacobs, Danny and Grace Jacobs, Mike, Cody, and Shawn Coconate; Brad (Amanda) and Zach Schulze; Chris (Anita) Lutzow, Samantha (Phil) Mehlitz, and Kyle Lutzow; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kevin, Allison, Gavin, Madison, and a new baby due soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Alex Lutzow; and her siblings, Donnabelle Ferlita, Bob Skeggs, and Ginny Rowe.
