James V. "Zack" Zaccagnini, Jr., 84, of Naplate passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Private family services will be held at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. He will be buried at St. Columba Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Zack was born April 19, 1936 in Fountain City, WI to James V. and Margaret (Mussatto) Zaccagnini, Sr. He married Velva V. Barto on October 20, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. They were married 43 years before her passing on March 18, 2000.
Zack was an ironworker for 60 years. He was a 1954 graduate of Marquette High School. He then served on the Marquette High School Board and was active in Marquette May Merriment and Marquette Go Club. He and his wife were recipients of the Red Wultzen Booster Award. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Naplate, St. Columba Church in Ottawa, and the Knights of Columbus. Zack was a Boy Scout leader for over 12 years and was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. He absolutely loved attending all the sports activities for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Brent (Kayla) Zaccagnini; three daughters, Sue (Dan) Aussem, Jackie (Ed) Taylor, and Shelley (Rich "Hoss") Wheatland; 12 grandchildren, Jeni (Jon) Leigh, Stephanie Aussem, Sara (Bart) Bretag, Melanie (Doug) Walk, D.J. Aussem, Jessica (Neil) LaRubbio, Alyssa (Shawn) Duffy, Megan (Adam) Siwicki, Amanda (Billy) Dixon, Allison (Greg) German, Joe Wheatland, and Ellen Wheatland; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Jeanne) Zaccagnini; and one sister, Julie (Harold) Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Vivian Zaccagnini; and one brother, Ernest Zaccagnini.
Pallbearers will be Amanda Dixon, Ellen Wheatland, D.J. Aussem, Joe Wheatland, Logan Cheatham, Marek Duffy, and Hunter Duffy. Honorary pallbearers will be Alyssa Duffy, Jessica LaRubbio, Allison German, Megan Siwicki, Jeni Leigh, Stephanie Aussem, Sara Bretag, and Melanie Walk.
Memorials may be directed to Marquette Academy or the Alzheimer's Association.
