James (Jim) Edward Malley Jr., 78, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the Ottawa Pavilion Nursing Home.
Mass will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, May 11th at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, May 10th at the Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:45 pm. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Jim was born September 21, 1942 in Ottawa, Illinois to James (“Mike”) and Catherine Malley. He married Sandy (Bruck) Malley on March 3, 1962 at St. Columba Church.
Jim retired from The Daily Times where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Pine Hills Golf Club, and was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Jimmy (Roxanne) Malley of Batavia, Jason (Christie) Malley of Yorkville, and a daughter, Jeri (Patrick) Lakan of Ottawa, seven grandchildren Jacob & Ben Lakan, Mackenzie, Jack, Dave, Liam, and Aidan Malley, and two brothers, Joe (Linda) Malley of Ottawa and John (Pat) Malley of El Paso, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry, and his wife, Sandy.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
