James R. Panko, Sr., 82, of Naplate passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home.

Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Jim was born May 30, 1938, in Ottawa to John and Irene (Cavell) Panko, Sr. He married Sandra Vittone on May 21, 1960. They were married for 60 years before her passing on July 16, 2020. Jim was a member of the National Guard, serving from 1961-1964. He owned and operated Panko's Tavern in Naplate with his wife Sandy for over 40 years. He volunteered for Naplate Fire Department for over 50 years.

He is survived by two sons, James (Lisa) Panko, Jr. of Ottawa and Michael (Ingrid) Panko of Huntsville, AL; and three grandchildren, Edward (Jessica) Panko, Jr., Jordan and Dustin Panko. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandy; one son, Edward Sr.; and three siblings, John Jr., and Robert Panko, and Norma Bowers.
