Glen Janeway Obituary

Glen Thomas Janeway, 65, of Somonauk, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Glen was born October 10, 1955 in Chicago to Melville and Mary (Watrous) Janeway,  Glen was an awesome painter, following in his dad's footsteps. He had many construction jobs throughout his life, and he was proud of the remodeling he did for many people. He jokingly considered himself UBGT; Under-bid Glen Thomas. Glen enjoyed fishing, boating, BBQ's, and attending races with his friends and family. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. One of Glen's favorite hobbies was going to garage sales and auctions; he was a simple man with the belief that one man's junk is another man's treasure.

Glen always thought about others first and had a heart of gold; he was the neighborhood helper, his parents' caretaker, and the family joker. He adored his family, especially his nieces and nephews. Many of his nieces' and nephews' friends adopted him as their own Uncle Glen. He always told the story about when he lived in a tent in his parents' backyard when he was younger, and how he nicknamed the tent "The Janeway Condo". He let everyone know about the time he fell out of a tree, and how that is the reason he is no longer 6 feet tall.

He is survived by his brother, Mel (Jean) Janeway, Jr.; sisters, Kathy (Dan) Lascoe, his twin Debbie Janeway, and Betty Lou (George) Vandermeir; nieces and nephews, Chris (Matt), Jessi, Melanie (Louie), Gerald (Tina), and Faith; four great-nieces and great-nephews, Vann, Irving, Vira, and Eion; and his extended family, Debbie Rodriguez and her family- Frank, Angelica, and kids; and Erich and Amanda Delk. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Glen will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. God's blessings.
