Elizabeth A. "Betty" Rossiter Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Rossiter, 94, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her home at Heritage Woods, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Memorial services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, October 11 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to noon, prior to services, at the funeral home. She will be buried with her husband and her son at St. Columba Cemetery. 

Betty was born July 4, 1927 in Ottawa to Joseph and Dora (Gress) McGinnis.  She was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School. She married Robert "Bob" Rossiter on November 19, 1955; they spent 59 wonderful years of marriage before he passed away on January 10, 2015.  Together they raised three children - Mark, Susan and Robin. Betty and Bob loved spending time together playing BINGO, going to the horse races, and traveling to Las Vegas. They were members of St. Patrick's Church.

Betty was an avid reader. She had a love for doing crossword puzzles which she passed on to some of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings on holidays and special occasions and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Grey of Ottawa and Robin (late Gary) Miller of Coralville, IA; six grandchildren - Ryan (Elena) Rossiter of New Lenox, IL; Ellie Rossiter; Patrick (Megan) Rossiter; Evan (Myleigh) Rossiter; Ross (Amber) Miller of Fort Riley, KS; and Kelli Miller of Los Angeles, CA; 11 great-grandchildren - Lydia & Nora Rossiter; Reagan Rossiter; Jack, Charlie & Hank Rossiter; Henry, August, William &  Elizabeth Miller with baby boy Miller due later this month; her brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Audrey) McGinnis of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; and her son, Mark Rossiter; three sisters - Dorothy Rahling, Ruth Bradish and Alicia "Lee" Cassasa; and two brothers - Joseph and Bruce McGinnis; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
