Edward J. Bundy, 98, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, March 27 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Caster officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home. Family and friends attending will be kindly asked to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing. He will be buried at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon, CA.
Ed was born September 17, 1922 in Streator to Joseph and Anna (Fetsko) Bundy. He married Lola Mathis in 1941, and together they had two children. He then married Irene Vandervort in 1960, and together they had two children; she passed away in 2014.
Ed was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving from 1944-1966 and stationed in Hawaii for six months of his service. He was employed for Owens in California and in Streator for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed shopping, baseball, and watching old Westerns. He loved listening to music, especially Roy Orbison and Neil Diamond to name a few. He liked to party in his younger years, and in his older age he enjoyed traveling to see the beautiful views in the mountains.
Ed is survived by three children, Becky (Mauro) Del Peloso of NV, Cheryl (Mark) Schiffler of CA, and Mike Bundy of NV; eight grandchildren, Lora (Dave) Bland, Mary (Wayne) Hammerich, Robinlee (Annie) Bundy, Trisha (Zach) Long, Vito (Arlene) Dettore, Tiffany (Adam) Almquist, Michael John (Jill) Bundy, and Brian (Alisha) Bundy; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his sister, Dorothy Bundy of Lockport, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Eddie Lee; his grandson, Christopher Dettore; and seven siblings, Joseph Bundy, Lucille Schultz, George "Dutch" Bundy, Virginia Boswell, Evelyn Iverson, Mary Ann Chergosky, and Jack Bundy.
