Obituary

Donald Sampson, 78, of Ottawa, passed away on January 18, 2023, at LaSalle County Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory.

Donald was born December 20, 1944, in Ottawa, IL, to Martin and Eva (Rick) Sampson. He married Arlene Hoffman on December 7, 1979.  She preceded him in death on August 2, 2019. 

He served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1966 where he was stationed in Germany. He later worked for Libby Owens Ford as a maintenance worker prior to his retirement. After he retired, he moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where he was the Commandant of the Arizona Posse. 

He is survived by his children, Donald "Cheek" Sampson, Ronald (Cynthia) Sampson, Jason (Rebecca Wrenn) Sampson, and Aaron Hoffman; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his sister, Sheila (Gary) Modesitt; and his brother, Martin (Judy) Sampson.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, Gary Sampson; and his sister, Sandy Duncan.
