Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements. A graveside service and burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
Dolores was born August 2, 1932 in Elmhurst, IL to Harry and Lilian (Getrost) Kolstedt. She grew up in Villa Park and graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in Nursing. Dolores married William Spickerman in 1955, and together they had two children.
Dolores worked as a registered nurse in Illinois until the early 1980's, when she moved to Hawaii with her "chosen sister" and best friend, Sandy Cornell. Dolores spent many decades in Hawaii as a real estate agent and broker and moved back to Illinois in 2015 to be closer to her family. She loved animals of all kinds and she was an excellent cook and baker. Dolores loved attending bible study with Pastor Patrick Lohse, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. She also enjoyed visiting with other residents at Park Pointe and playing bingo.
She is survived by her two children, Ann (Gary) Higgins of Seneca and David Spickerman of Waterman; five grandchildren, Alina and Alex Higgins, Matthew, Joseph (Kristin), and Kimberly Spickerman; and three great-grandchildren, Cash, Teddy, and Van. She was preceded in death by her parents and her friend, Sandy.
Memorials may be directed to her family.
