Carol Ann McCormick

Carol Ann McCormick, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

Burial will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. 

Carol was born July 4, 1937, in Ottawa, IL, to Charles and Delia (White) Engel. She married Richard McCormick on January 3, 1959 and he passed away March 6, 2017. 

She worked as a nurse for over 15 years, helping the people of Ryburn King Hospital, LaSalle County Nursing Home, and Ottawa Pavilion. She enjoyed playing bingo and had a passion for books; she was instrumental in setting up the talking books program at the Reddick Library. She was extremely close to her family and friends, she would still get together once a month with the ladies from her 8th grade class. She loved her family and was everyone's favorite aunt. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church. 

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey McCormick, James McCormick, Jon (Doreen) McCormick, and JoAnne Paar; her grandchildren, Raymond, Kyle, Jessica, Tanner, and Gunner McCormick and Kaylie (Sam) Merrill; and her great granddaughter, Julianna Summers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Richard McCormick; her daughter, Julie Ann McCormick; her brothers, Tom, Joe, and Robert Engel; and her sisters, Eleanor Boswell, Marilyn Ongalo, Janice Lucas, and Phyliss Engel.

Memorials may be directed to either Reddick Library or Fresenius Dialysis Center.
