Bonnie Vernoy Obituary

Bonnie L. (Saager) Vernoy, 72, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 pm, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Due to the current COVID pandemic, Bonnie's family kindly asks that everyone attending the visitation please wear a mask and maintain social distance for their safety, and the safety of others. A private funeral service will be held. A public celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at a later date.

Bonnie was born November 30, 1949 in Ottawa to Harold and Geraldine (Fisher) Saager. She married Earl T. Vernoy, Jr. on December 30, 1967. Together, they spent 50 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on August 3, 2017.

Bonnie was born and raised in Ottawa, and she held many food service management positions throughout Ottawa before her retirement. She found joy in cooking and spending time in the kitchen. Bonnie and Earl spent time traveling together, enjoying trips all over the US and several other countries. She enjoyed reading and watching horror movies, camping, boating, and playing games-especially Scrabble.

Bonnie was kind-hearted and had a loving soul. Family meant the world to her, and she cherished the times she spent laughing and caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to many, and will be deeply missed.

Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Tina (Dan) Meagher of Ottawa and Teri (Ronald) Martin of Sheridan; five grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Meagher, Kyle (Tiffany Dippel) Mucci, Austin (Shelby Testa) Martin and Ashlynn Martin; and a great-grandbaby on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Marianne Gulbronson of Michigan, her sister-in-law, Kathy Saager of Colorado; many nieces and nephews; and her favorite furry companion, Chewbacca "Chewy".

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Larry Saager.

Memorials may be directed to her family.
