Yvonne "Darlene" Verona

Yvonne "Darlene" Verona, 71, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at The Tillers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, Illinois. Funeral Service for Darlene will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa with Pastor David Davies officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home and also one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Darlene was born June 24, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Glen and Laverne (Cosby) Lynn. She married William "Bill" Verona on November 9, 1963 in Hazel Crest. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2004. Darlene was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a teacher up until the time of her retirement. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Timothy) McCloskey of Yorkville and Dianna Welch of Naperville; two sons, Bradley Verona of San Jose, California and Jeffrey (Kit) Verona of Allen, Texas; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Sophia, Cameron, Matthew, and Kyle; one brother-in-law, Russ (JoAnne) Verona; and two sisters-in-law, Mary (Vic) Orsini and Rose Verona. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one sister-in-law, Frances (Gordon) Russell. Pallbearers will be Roger Verona, Scott Verona, Steve Johnson, Bill Bruck, Jim Brooke, and John Conrad. Memorials may be directed to the family.
