Former Ottawa City Commissioner William E. "Bill-Nutters" Walsh Sr., 70, of Ottawa, IL, died, Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 4:00 with Knights of Columbus in attendance. William Walsh Sr. was born November 4, 1940 in Ottawa, Illinois to Henry and Frances (Martin) Walsh. He worked for Wetherby Construction, Milkman for the Dayton Dairy, Illinois Fruit and Produce in Streator, retired from LaSalle County Asphalt and was an Ottawa City Commissioner for Streets and Sanitation for 12 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and The Odd Fellows. He is survived by two sons, William Walsh, Jr (Julie Kellogg) of Ottawa, Jay (Kate) Walsh of Chicago; one daughter, Tana (Greg) Muncy of Ottawa; seven grandchildren, Jason (Krystle Leal), Lacey, Kelly, Finigan, and Nessa Walsh, Cheyenne and Selena Muncy; two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Adric Leal; one sister, Mary (Ron) Hazard of Ottawa; sister in law, Judy Walsh of Ottawa; and his companion of 12 years, Cheryl Sieg of LaSalle. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hank Walsh Sr. Pallbearers will be Jason Leal, Hank Walsh Jr, Craig Walsh, Ron Callaway, Dennis Allen, Ed Whitney and Larry Johnson. Memorials may be directed to the family.
