William Mitchell

William Mitchell, 84, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 19, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Honors. William was born March 13, 1931 in Ottawa, Illinois to Valentine and Jeanne (Rochelle) Mitchell. He married Elaine Orsini on May 1, 1963 in Morris, Illinois; she passed away March 24, 2013. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a mine sweeper. He retired from Ottawa Silica as a welder. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He is survived by his children, Valerie Welch of Ottawa, Darlene (Henry) Strand of Hayward, WI, Doreen (Kim) Lemke of Hayward, WI, Rick Lawsha of Galesburg, and David Lawsha of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Shelley, Sonya, and Stacey; and four great grandchildren, Breanna, Brendin, Bailey, and Levi. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elaine; two brothers, Bob and Ernie Mitchell; and one sister, Rosemary Gerding. Memorials may be directed to donors' choice.
