William C. Fredericks

William "Bill" Fredericks, 56, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, July 12 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Driscoll officiating. Visitation will be from 3 - 6 pm, Wednesday, July 11 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.

Bill entered this life on March 23, 1962 in Sandwich, IL. He was the first born child of Arnold and Rose (Widmayer) Fredericks of Sandwich.

Bill grew up on Ottawa's west side. He loved his years in Boy Scout Troop 44, lead by Mr. Parker. He was a graduate of OHS, Class of 1980, and then attended ISU in Bloomington, a town he grew to love and called home for nearly thirty years. He moved back to the area several years ago and settled in LaSalle. He spent his life working in the food service industry.

Bill was a quiet guy that had such good humor and a kind heart. He was so appreciative of support he received from others and faced head-on all the challenges life threw at him. The most devastating blow came with his diagnosis of cancer two years ago. He fought privately but positively with the support of his family. After going to the nursing home, Bill found new friends to enjoy life with and loved the banter he shared with Dawn, Michelle, Chelsea, Bonnie, and all the nursing home employees who participated in his care, and looked forward to his visits with Nancy and Candace. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and listening to the radio and sharing stories with others that stopped in to visit.

Bill is survived by his mother, Rose of Ottawa; his sisters, Vicki (John) McConnell, Linda Fredericks, both of Ottawa, and Michelle (Dave) Reed of Utica; and his nieces and nephews, Amanda (David) Waddell, Bethany McConnell, Cheryl and Abby Reed, Stephen (Kelly) McConnell, and Jarrett Reed. He also enjoyed his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ella, Ashlyn, Charlotte, Benjamin, and John; and the cats, Scooter, Boomer, Little Guy, and Sparkle.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.

In Bill's memory, memorials may be directed to his family.

Pallbearers will be Dave Reed, Jarrett Reed, John McConnell, Stephen McConnell, David Waddell, Amanda Waddell, Bethany McConnell, and Abby Reed.
