William Stone Bower

William Stone "Bill" Bower, 83, of Ottawa, IL, died, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at his home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Msgr Jerome Ham of St. Francis of Assisi Church officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery with Military Services. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm, Tuesday, September 21 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Bill was born January 7, 1927, in Seymour, Iowa, to Edgar and Beryl (Stone) Bower. He married Mary Jobst on May 15, 1955 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He worked at LOF Glass Co as the superintendent of the warehouse retiring in 1988 . He was a member of the American Legion Post 33 the VFW and the Ottawa Moose Lodge. Bill served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Montauk, LSV in the South Pacific. He is survived by his wife one son Stephen (Cindy) Bower of Ottawa, three daughters Laurie (Paul) McConville of Ottawa, Julie (Chris) Van Saders of Green Bay WI and Lisa (Ken) Hansen of Naperville, thirteen grandchildren, Traci (John) Bauer, Marissa Bower, Leah (Matt) Johnson, Mark DeFore, Erin McConville, Drew McConville, Christopher Van Saders, Madeline Van Saders, Carolyn Van Saders, Kenneth Hansen, Matthew Hansen, Mary Kate Hansen and Jack Hansen. Seven great grandchildren Shailee, Brock, Callee and Lizzee Bauer, Colton, Grason and Maddyn Johnson He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Stanley Bower and one sister Gwen Spoviero. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the family .
