William J. Arnold

William "Bill" Arnold, 65, of Ottawa, Illinois, died, November 5, 2011 at his sister's home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with the Rev. Jules Adator officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Military Services. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 4:00 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus in attendance. Bill was born, November 30, 1945, in Ottawa, Illinois to Charles and Gertrude (Bayer) Arnold. Bill graduated from Marquette High School. He served in the US Army Reserve for 4 years as a cook. He retired from Kroger's after 46 years as a butcher. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Shoreline Boat Club, American Legion Post 33 and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by one daughter, Mylinda (Cleve) Threadgill of Ottawa and one son Chad (Jennifer) Arnold of Carlsbad, CA; five grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Aric Threadgill, Jacob & Christian Arnold; one sister, Kay (Mike) Allen of Ottawa; one brother, Jack (Dianne) Arnold of Marion IL; and fifty eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Gertrude Barron, Eileen Pearson and Mary Lou Gahan; and one brother, John Robert Arnold. Pallbearers will be Bob Shanley, Tim Siebert, Brian Meaney, Larry Johnson, Dennis Allen, Brian Allen, Mark Gahan and Jerry Gahan. Memorials may be directed to the family.
