Wesley Thompson, 64, of Serena, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, March 14 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00. Mr. Thompson was born December 22, 1943, in Mendota, to Mahlon and Florence (Stein) Thompson. He married Anne Duffy September 21, 1968 at St. Columba Church. Wesley did his undergratuate studies at ISU and received his masters degree at U of I. He taught Agriculture at Serena High School for 34 years, retiring in 2001. He also worked at 1st National Bank in Ottawa as Farm Manager. His memberships include: IAVAT- Illinois Association of Vocational Agricultural Teachers; NAAE - National Association of Agricultural Educators; Serena Lyons Club; Knights of Columbus; Ottawa Moose Lodge and Labor of Love. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Anne; his daughters Katie (Matt) Flamini of Yorkville and Julie (Aaron) Mueller of South Elgin; one son, Mike (Jennifer) Thompson of St. Charles; seven grandchildren, Susie, Sam, Emily, Jake, Luke, Anna and Nora; two brothers, Roger (Arline) Thompson of Rochelle and Darrel (Judie) Thompson of Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Norman. Pallbearers will be Jim Farson, Pat Watkins, Dennis Thompson, Phil Wood, Kent Weber and Bill Bores. Honorary pallbearers will be his fraternity brothers, Lyle Hall, Bob Neal, Don MacGregor, Dave Currie, Larry Jacobs and Chuck Strayer.
