He was born and raised in Morris, graduating from Morris High School with the class of 1957, and studied at Joliet Junior College and IVCC. Wes was an avid Morris Redskin, playing while in high school, and not missing a home game until sickness prevented him from attending, at which time he listened to it on the radio. His work years included 16 years with the Technical Engineers division of Local 130, and then 20 years with the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers. He traveled extensively with the Corps of Engineers and also privately with Mary Lou and their family. Wes had earlier enjoyed being a member of the Seneca Bowling League, Seneca Grade School board of education, Lions Club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church council. A bright spot in his life included riding his scooter, fishing, and his wide and varied collections made over the years. Wes battled cancer, both Sarcoma and Carcinoma, for 6 1/2 years before his death, and fought hard. He never lost his love of life and family, his laugh, and his quick wit. A memorial service in Wes's honor will be held Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Seneca, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
