Wayne R. Steep

October 10, 1932 — March 17, 2018

Wayne R. Steep, 85, of Seneca passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Memorial Services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, March 21 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca, with Pastor Kris Zierke officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, March 20 at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Wayne was born October 10, 1932 in Seneca, Illinois to Clinton and Marjorie (Thorson) Steep. He married Marian Martin on January 11, 1958 in Spring Valley. Wayne was a proud member of the United States Air Force, serving from 1952-1956. He retired from GE Plastics after 33 years working in maintenance. Wayne enjoyed golfing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Seneca Kasal Post 457 and a past president of the Seneca Grade School Board of Education. He was a lifetime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marian; three sons, Marty (JoEtta) Steep of Sugar Grove, Jerry (Pamela) Steep of Morris, and Kevin (Kristi) Steep of Seneca; five grandchildren, Savannah Steep, Kristina Pfaff, Brandon (Brittney), Jordan (Courtney), and Maddie Steep; one great-granddaughter, Harper; and his siblings, William Steep of Seneca, Judy Jelm of Plainfield, Charles Steep of Ottawa, and Susan Phelps of Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters-in-law, Lois Steep, Patricia Steep, and Cheryl Becker; and three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Jelm, Robert Phelps and Richard Becker. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
