Walter Patrick Rossiter, Jr., 85, of Ottawa, Illinois, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his home. Private Graveside Services will be in April. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, with Military Services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottawa Funeral Home. Walter was born March 1, 1928, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Walter and Emma (Poutre) Rossiter, Sr. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. He retired from LOF after 34 years. He was a member of the VFW. Walter was a proud Veteran. He opened his home (almost every Sunday) to his family, who always came first. He was there to help anyone in any way he could, and he was the happiest when he was in his garden, from the planting of the seeds, to the picking of its fruit. Uncle Junie, you will forever have a special place in our hearts. He is survived by his sisters, Jane Mucci, Alyce Erickson, and Kathleen Bumgarner; his brothers, Robert (Betty) Rossiter, Harold (MarrLa) Rossiter, and Donald "Diz" Rossiter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Orsini; and a brother in infancy.
