Virginia “Ginny” Louise Harth Hughes, 71, of Grand Ridge, Illinois passed away surrounded by loved ones on 22 September, 2018. Born to Albert and Beatrice Harth on September 10, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, she was raised in Ottawa, IL with her brother Tom and sister Judy where she graduated from Marquette High School. She met her husband Dick of 50 years while working at The Hi Way. They lived and raised their five children in Grand Ridge, Illinois on their own piece of heaven for forty years where they resided until moving to Liberty Village in Peru. She spent her later years traveling with her family and recently made her dream of seeing the Redwoods come true. Ginny loved working at the Hi Way restaurant and made lifelong friends while serving coffee with a smile. But her favorite job in the world was taking care of her family. She adored being a wife, mother and grandmother in every way and was beyond proud of them never missing an opportunity to share with anyone who would listen. They are even more proud of her. She was incredibly strong and was an inspiration beyond words to each of them. Ginny was a force of nature which she wielded at every turn. Her strength knew no bounds. She loved fiercely. She was our rock. She was our everything. Ginny’s last act of kindness through the Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network will help 24 people. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Al and Betty Harth. Her legacy and love lives on with her husband Dick; her five children, Ed (Susan), Bridget (Peter) Vavasour, Holly (Tim) Koster, Marci (Chris) Withey and Ted (Angelica) ; and her 16 grandchildren Connor, Carly, Taylor, Zachary, Olivia, Colton, Carson, Shealyn, Braidan, Addyson, Callaghan, Aaron, Bronko, Mazzy, Helena, and Isidora. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29 from 10am-12pm at Ottawa Funeral Home in Ottawa, IL. Memorial Service will be at noon. A celebration of Ginny’s life will be held at 2042 N. 2653rd Marseilles, IL immediately following.
