Viola Knutson

Viola Knutson, 91, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Viola was born September 2, 1922, in Aurora, Illinois, to George and Florence (Getz) Darabon. She married Orion Knutson on June 5, 1945, in Marseilles, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1995. She was a member of St. Columba Church and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by a granddaughter, Alyssa (Bryan) Schultz of Wisconsin; two great granddaughters, Emma and Clara Schultz; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Knutson of Wisconsin; and her caregivers and friends, John and Dawn (Mitchell) Samaniego, and their son, Dylan of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Gregory Knutson on April 28, 2004. Pallbearers will be Randy Mitchell, John Stanton, John Samaniego, Bill Kummer, Michele Armstrong, and Josh Kiest. Memorials may be directed to the family.
