Vincent Shank

OTTAWA Vincent Shank, 92, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 4 p.m. He was born Jan. 8, 1916, in Pulaski, Ind., to John and Anna (Gilsinger) Shank. He married Della Dee Smith on Jan. 29, 1972, in Waukegan. He was co-owner of Shank & Donahue men's clothing in Ottawa. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include stepdaughters, Maggie (James) Prater of Waukegan and Lynne (James Johnston) White of Chapin, S.C.; a son, David J. (Marcia) Shank of Chapel Hill, N.C.; grandchildren, Jennifer Sauer of Joliet, Beth (Dave) Nolan of Chicago, Robert & Karri Prater of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Sheri and Brett Colp; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Sauer of Joliet and James Nolan of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 6, 2005, and a stepdaughter, Margo Colp.
