Vincent Pitstick, 89, of Ottawa passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Pleasant View Luther Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Thursday, July 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Jeff J. Windy officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm, Wednesday, July 19 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 pm. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Vincent was born December 15, 1927 in Dimmick Township to Henry and Ida (Funfsinn) Pitstick. He married Alice Schiffgens April 15, 1950 at St. Francis of Assisi Church; she passed away December 31, 2012. Vincent was a lifetime farmer in Serena and Dayton Twps. He was also a dairy farmer well into his 60's, when he then switched to commercial beef herding. He was the designer and builder of the Corn Maze for Campfire USA for fifteen years and received the Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year Award in 2009. He was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club. Vincent also enjoyed running and competing in several 5ks.
Vincent is survived by two sons, Stephen (Mary) and Paul (Tammy) both of Ottawa; two daughters, Karen Mitchell of Oro Valley, AZ and Carol Rivers of Gilbert, AZ; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Edwin (Bette Lu) of Ottawa; and one sister, Paula (Arden) Chapple of Spokane, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; two daughters Joan Pitstick, and Ann Gavenda; one great-granddaughter, Emma Mitchell; six brothers, Edmund, Bernard, Peter, Lawrence, Richard, and Hubert; seven sisters, Rose Bulfer, Mae Alexander, Zita Alexander, Rita Pitstick, Lottie Stallings, Marjorie Nelson, and Marilyn Hanusik; and one son-in-law, Jim Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Luke Rivers, BenMitchell, Angela Mayo, Jason Pitstick, Neil Pitstick, and Trevor Behrens.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed to local charities.
