Veronica Williams

Veronica "Vernie" Williams, 94, of Ottawa passed away on August 26, 2022 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 am, with Rev.Gary Caster.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery following the church service.

Veronica was born Sept. 19, 1927 in Ottawa, to Jacob and Meri (Ivanetic) Simonich.  She married Herbert Williams on April 21, 1951 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He passed away on October 29, 2010.

Vernie was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy, class of 1945.  She retired from D. H. Mayou Roofing Co. in 1988 after 43 years. She was a member of the American Legion Womans Auxilary, VFW Auxilary, and St. Francis Alter & Rosary Society.

Vernie is survived by her niece, Suzie (Mike) Sutfin; her nephews, Tom (Cathy) Nixon and D.J. Hisler; as well as several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert; her sister, Marie Hisler; her brother, Frank J. Simonich and a brother in infancy.
