Verla M. (Wilson) Coss, 82, of Jacksonville Fl., died Monday, June 29, 2009 at Acosta-Rau Hospice of Jacksonville, Fl. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday July 8, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca, Il, with the Rev. Kris Zierke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca. The family requests that the burial be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Local Arrangements were entrusted to Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca, Il. Verla was born May 1, 1927 in Linn Creek Missouri to William and Nellie (Ray) Wilson. She married Paul Coss Sr. June 1, 1946. He died March 16, 1977. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Kasal Post 457. Verla is survived by one daughter, Gloria Jean (Clarence) Ferguson of LaSalle, Il; two sons, Mark (Yvonne) Coss of Seneca and Craig Coss of Jacksonville, Fl.; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Orville (Ruth) Wilson of Lee's Summit, Missouri; three sister-in-laws, Betty Coss, Joan Coss, and Delores Philllips; a brother-in-law, Fr. John Coss; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Paul Coss Jr.; three brothers, Lloyd, Bob, and Loren; six sisters, Mabel, Pearl, Phyllis, Naomi, Mary, and Maxine. Memorials may be directed to Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
