Thomas J. Landers, 88, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00, one hour prior to services, Monday at St. Columba Church. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with military rites being accorded by the Ottawa American Legion Veterans Group honor guards. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with his services. Thomas was born August 27, 1928 in Earlville, Illinois to William and Catherine (Hughes) Landers. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Joy Hall on April 28, 1956 in Ottawa, Illinois. He previously worked for Union Carbide, American Hoescht and retired from the United States Post Office. He was a member of St. Columba Church and the VFW Post 2470. He is survived by his wife, Joy; three children, Mary Beth Iverson, Jean Landers, and Michael (Mona) Landers; three grandchildren, Paige Iverson, Max Landers, and Lida Landers; and one sibling, Dorothy Landers Donahue. He is preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings, Mary Zolper, Shirley Kettleborough, William Landers, Lucille Balachowski, Betty Baumgartner, and John Landers. Pallbearers will be Hank Zolper, Bill Donahue, Steve Baumgartner, Gary Kettleborough, Michael Hall, and Bill Landers.
