Thomas G. Lakan, 52, of Ottawa died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday March 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Gerald Meyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 pm Wednesday March 12 with a rosary at 4 PM at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mr. Lakan was born June 2, 1955 in Ottawa to Jacob and Ruth (Dougherty) Lakan. He married Pamela Daugherty on June 3, 1978 at St. Columba Church. He was a Plumber with Local 501; he also belonged to Local 81 and was involved with Civil Defense. In 1974 he was sent to Valley Forge to receive a POW award for organizing a Prisoner of War parade in Ottawa following the Vietnam War. Tom is survived by his wife, Pam, daughter Haley and mother Ruth all of Ottawa; sister Mary Humer of Tolono, and two brothers Michael (Diane) and Patrick (Jeri) both of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his father. Pallbearers will be Chris and John Humer, Jacob and Ben Lakan; Tom Ganiere and Mike Burke.
