Thomas R. Classon, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home.
Memorial Services will be held at 6 pm, Thursday, April 25, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Pastor Jennifer Amy-Dressler officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm, prior to services, at the funeral home. Burial will be Friday, April 26, at 11 am in West Serena Cemetery.
Tom was born April 2, 1934, in Ottawa, to Lyle and Annie (Paterson) Classon. He married Mary Kay Malone on June 29, 1958, at the First Congregational Church in Ottawa.
Tom worked at LOF, Bakelite, and retired in 1995 from Commonwealth Edison. Tom was a lifelong car and motorcyle enthusiast. He was a member of Starved Rock Runners from the 1980's until his death.
He also enjoyed long distance bicycling.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Marsali Classon of Waukegan; son, Richard of Ottawa; grandson Richard Thomas Classon (Abilgail Tripp) of Elkhorn, WI; sister, Mona Kahney of Gurnee; Arlene Classon, and Pete and Gayla Dorris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Carlyle.
