Thomas Clair

Thomas M. Clair, 64, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm, Thursday, January 4 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Tom was born September 29, 1953 in Ottawa to William and Mary (Mulroy) Clair. He married Mary Jean Jobst May 19, 1979 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Tom graduated from Marquette High School in 1971. He retired in 2015 from Sabic Innovative Plastic. Tom was a sports fan and enjoyed golfing and spending time in his garden. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two children, Elizabeth (Kelly) Thomas of Davenport, IA; and Matthew (Jennifer) Clair of Bettendorf, IA; five grandchildren, Grant and Henry Clair, and Camille, Charlotte, and Corbin Thomas; and his siblings, Bill (Sheila) Clair of Waukon, IA; Anne (Mark) Hetelle of Ottawa, Dan (Cindy) Clair of Irving, TX; Mike (Kathy) Clair of Goodyear, AZ; John (Cathy) Clair of Glendale, AZ; June (Jeff) Lavender of LaVernia, TX; and Brian (Julia) Clair of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Colleen Cole, and his mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Jobst. Pallbearers will be Bill, Dan, Mike, John, and Brian Clair, and Mark Hetelle Jr. Memorials may be directed to the family.
