Theresa Ekdahl

Theresa Marie Ekdahl, 99, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 am, Tuesday, September 26 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm, Monday, September 25 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rosary at 3:45. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Theresa was born June 11, 1918 in Ottawa to Michael and Katherine (Yaloczo) Nanouski. She married Arlin Ekdahl on January 5, 1942 in Palmyra, Missouri ;he passed away February 20, 2005. Theresa was a member of St. Mary's Church in Naplate. She loved cooking for her family, dancing, and laughing; her "cackle" was contagious. Theresa loved her family and her grandchildren immensely. She is survived by her children, Shirlee (Ron) Machetta, Arlene (Bill) Schultz, and, Anita (Tom) Norris; nine grandchildren, Sally, Gregg (Rhonda), Gary (D'Renda), Tara, Tiffany, Trista (Randy), Stephanie (Terry), Brandon (Emily), and Megan (Lance); 16 great-grandchildren, Laura, Irissa, Katrina, Dougles, Madisyn, Racine, Stone, Madelaine, Miranda, Nolan, Tyler, Luke, Leah, Olivia, Ava Marie, and Chandler; and one brother, Mike Nanouski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin; her parents; one grandson, Ryan Thomas Norris; five sisters, Anna Kolotka, Mary Potosky, Pauline Carner, Olga Budach, and Amelia Moats; and three brothers, Steve, Joe, and Bill Nanouski. Pallbearers will be Ron Machetta, Bill Schultz, Tom Norris, Gregg Machetta, Brandon Norris, and Nolan Chismarick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the upcoming Dementia Program at Ottawa Friendship House.
