Terese (Dougherty) Williams, 55, of Ottawa passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, July 24, 2017. She fought a long courageous battle with brain cancer.
A Memorial Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Jeff J. Windy officiating. Her visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 Friday, July 28, 2017 at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date.
Terese was born February 11, 1962 in Ottawa, Illinois to Glen "Joe" and Judy (Veith) Dougherty. She had seven brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Marquette High School and a licensed beautician at JCPenney, in Peru, for twenty-six years. On September 6, 1986, Terese married the love of her life, Robert Williams Jr. They were high school sweethearts and shared nearly thirty-one beautiful years of marriage together.
Terese was an active member at St. Patrick's Parish. She loved to garden. She took pride in decorating for the holidays, something special we enjoyed as a family. Terese loved to travel and would take great care in finding somewhere nice for us to be together. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her granddaughter, Adele. Reading books, playing outside, teaching her new things, and having messy dinners were a few of her favorite things to do with Adele - her little sweetie pie, baby doll. Terese had a way of always knowing when you needed a good meal, or a big hug. She was a great listener, gentle and kind, and always a great friend.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; two precious daughters, Kirsten Williams of Ottawa and Kelsey (Derrick) Schonauer of Bloomington; one granddaughter, Adele Bailey; her mother, Judy Dougherty of Ottawa; her mother-in-law, Marlene Robinson of Decatur; two brothers, Ed (Molly) Dougherty of Naplate and Joe (Tammy) Doughtery of Ottawa; five sisters, Karla (Brian) O'Connor of Prattville, AL, Karen Marshall of Peoria, Caroline (Chris) Hanes of Lombard, Jan (Matt) Krug of Ottawa, and Jackie (Larry) Majerus of Ottawa; fifteen nieces; and eleven nephews.
Preceding her in death were her father, in 2016; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to a memorial mass or to the Starved Rock Regional Center in Ottawa.
