Susan Schmidt

OTTAWA -- Susan M. Schmidt, 56, of Ottawa, died Monday, Feb. 25, at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 4 p.m. Mrs. Schmidt was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Ottawa, to Wayne C. and Jacqueline (Wagner) Koehl. She married Robert W. Schmidt on Nov. 20, 1976, at Holy Rosary Church in River Forest. She was a dental assistant for Robert Schmidt's dental office. She was a member of St. Columba Church and involved with Marquette High School's Freshman Welcome Party for many years. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Erika (Tim) Schiffbauer of St. Charles; a son, Hans of Chicago; a sister, Beth DeLuna of Ottawa; and a brother, John (Beth) Richardson of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by a son, Nathan in infancy; a brother, Gerald Koehl; and her parents and stepmother, Elizabeth Koehl.
