Stephen & Patricia Varney

Stephen J. and Patricia A. (Stangland) Varney went home to be with their Lord and Savior in April 2018.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 1, 2018 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Their visitation will be 9:00 - 11:00, two hours prior to services, Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home. They will be buried in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors for Stephen.

Stephen was born July 6, 1944 in Ottawa, Illinois, he was the son of the late Michael and Charlotte Bieschke Varney. He worked for GE Plastics 35 years and Auto Zone for 3 years, he officially retired in 2006. He was a member of Bethany Bible Chapel. He loved to sing and play golf and most of all he loved his Lord and his family. He is survived by his siblings, David Varney, Rick (Lynn) Varney, Kevin (Sharon) Varney, Linda (Leo) Halm, Marcia (John Stevenson) Varney, Barbara (Craig) Godwin, and Virginia (David) Foulker. He is preceded in death by his brother, Edd Varney.

Patricia was born June 9, 1947 in Morris, Illinois to the late Myron and Mildred (Weber) Stangland. She was also a member of Bethany Bible Chapel. She was very skilled at needlework, crocheting, and quilting. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters, Sally (Jim) Bedeker and Judy Stangland.

Their survivors include two children, Annette (Michael) Kath and Stephen (Rosie) Varney; and their grandchildren, Rebecca Kath, Aaron Kath, Ethan Kath, Joel Kath, and Presli Lovell.
